At the centre of the workshop is The Casting Brief™ — a framework built from over a decade of in-house recruitment experience across games, film, TV, and the creative industries. It assesses every hire across four areas: The Script — what they can do (skills) The Repertoire — where they've done it (experience) The Character — how they do it (behaviours) The Drive — why they do it (motivation) Most hiring processes stop at the first two. This one doesn't — because Character and Drive are what actually predict whether someone thrives in your business, and they're the hardest things to train. By the end of the session, you'll have: A completed Casting Brief for a live role in your business A candidate-facing job advert draft, built directly from your brief A bank of interview questions across all four areas, including the "Plot Twist" technique for surfacing genuine problem-solving under pressure A candidate scorecard to score fairly and consistently — and take the "gut feel" out of your final decision A working understanding of the Equality Act 2010, the protected characteristics, and the bias patterns that quietly derail good hiring decisions How it works: You'll complete a short set of pre-work videos in your own time beforehand — covering the emotional reality of hiring, the legal and bias foundations, and the practical logistics — so the live session is spent doing, not listening. The live workshop itself mixes individual work, breakout pairs, and group discussion, working through the framework, job advert writing, interview design, and candidate experience.
